Wee Boy Pretty are a 5 piece alternative pop/rock band from East Van, featuring:
Jo - vocals / keys / guitar, Sandor - guitar, Erin - drums, Andrew - drums, Josh - bass.
Their music combines pop & rock in an approach similar to Feist and Morcheeba, but with a grit and boisterousness unique to WBP. Their deliciously catchy songs with striking lyrics, have undertones of funk and classic rock in their hooks and grooves, and quirky psychedelics in the guitar-scapes. It’s music for the funky intelligent optimist.
If WBP were a night out, they’d be a house party. They’re the random conversation with the guy called ‘Dolphin’ in the kitchen, they’re the toasting your hands on the fire pit, and they’re the rocking out on the beer soaked dance-floor. Freewheeling, intimate, always a good time.
WBP formed over many leagues and miles. Jo & Sandor’s debut album ‘Crazy Pills’ was conceived in the garage they lived in, and completed in Birmingham, UK, where they piled mattresses up against the walls to keep out the neighbors, and keep in the heat.
Back in Vancouver in 2005, the band came together through a shared love of bare feet, playing with guitar pedals naked late into the night, shiny things, spastic energy and mini-wiener dogs. Wee Boy Pretty was born.
WBP are a soundtrack for living. They’re laid-back, but they’ve got sass, they’ve got groove. Perfect with your third glass of wine on a Tuesday night. For that kettle boiling hour on a Sunday morning, surveying the previous night’s carnage, trying to work out who you should be apologising to, and deciding on no one.
With their 2nd album due for release later this year, there’s a palpable energy at WBP base-camp, and they can’t just wait to get it out and play with it.
