The Autumn Stones are an alternative pop band from Toronto. Although inspired by music encompassing
various genres they lean towards the more literate sphere of pop. Led by singer songwriter Ciaran Megahey
their music consists of simple hook-laden compositions colored with smooth textures and a cool,
understated delivery.
The Autumn Stones story begins in 2009 when vocalist/guitarist Ciaran Megahey and drummer Evan
Bender began rehearsals following the break-up of their previous band The Assistants. Ciaran began
making demos at home with the help of trombonist Heather Segger and trumpeter Glenn Gaukel. Soon
after, Ciaran met Michael Newton, also an artist who records under the moniker Baby Giraffe, while taking
a music business class together. Armed with the newly recorded demos and prompted by a shared love of
Echo and The Bunnymen and Morrissey, Ciaran asked Michael to be the bands’ bass player and the lineup
was complete.
