It's a simple formula: Two zealous song writers plus one exuberant drummer. The result: an aura of swooning melodies, driving rhythms, and explosive riffs.
SUNHAWK was born in a heat-exhausted haze, under the shade of a tailgated Nissan Pathfinder, at Sasquatch Music Festival '09. Surrounded by emerging talent and enamored fans, Keenan Murray, Ben Robertson and Matt Longpre couldn't help asking themselves why they were watching and not playing. Fortunately, no one had a reasonable answer and a gentleman's agreement was struck between the three. After returning to their home town of Victoria, BC, they immediately began jamming, writing and recording in Matt Longpre's home studio. The remainder of summer 2009 yielded a set of powerful, danceable, well-crafted songs.
Since that time Sunhawk has been building an army of enthusiastic followers, and recently placed 2nd out of 16 in the University of Victoria's Battle of the Bands 2010. With even more catchy dance-rock numbers brewing in their home studio, the future is bright for this young band.
