With less than 2 years experience under their belts, Real Mad Decent are working hard to make waves in Vancouver’s busy music scene. Their sound - rock/funk with a strong hip-hop influence - embraces simplicity and showcases the talents of this four piece group.
With Zac McMillian on vocals, Nik Dagsvik on guitar, Mitchell Santaga on bass and Marco Di Spirito on drums, the Real Mad Decent EP (released in spring 2012) shows the bands ability early on, and hints at their future potential. They're only scratching the surface at this early stage. They have a nostalgic sound, noted by their heavy 90’s rock influence, but at the same time, accented with a level of attitude and confidence that isn't often heard from musicians at 20 & 21 years of age.
The band spent 2012 playing live as much as possible. “Real Mad Decent is one of these new talents who are creating a buzz and contributing to the growth of Vancouver’s music industry." - said Vancouver Weekly magazine after one of the bands first live shows at Joe's Apartment. RMD has since performed at many of Vancouver’s most notable venues: The Railway Club; The Roxy; The Backstage Lounge; and more.
Some of the bands notable achievements include: winning the War Of Rock competition hosted by Joe Keithly of DOA & The Pacific Audio Visual Institute, placing 2nd in Supernova's Band On The Run regional competition, performing live on Vancouver's Urban Rush airing on Shaw Cable, and having recently recorded new demo tracks with Vancouver producing legend, Bob Rock.
With plans to tour and record on the horizon, 2013 is sure to be a promising year for these young musicians.
