Midnight Truth has been breakin’ in on the youth music scene in Calgary for a year and a half now, knockin’ some dust off the stage at local battle of the band competitions and earning recognition and accolades at events, such as Calgary’s Toast ‘n’ Jam music festival where the young alternative rockers’ smooth jazzy style earned them second place in their first big gig.
Ranging in age from 15 to 18, the young musicians are coming along and gaining a following of teens and adults alike that want music that digs into your soul.
The four musicians Daniel Simpson, bass, Kody Wandinger, drums, Bud Wandinger, guitar and vocals and Connor Kjersteen, synth, piano and lead vocals blended their varied influences into a fluid core of deep styles with hints of Floyd, coupled with soulful, jazzy, sometimes grungy influential riffs from Cold Play and Nirvana and classic-rock edginess of The Guess Who and Led Zeppelin. Their sound is deep and rich with emotion and powerful vocals.
With a new tighter crew, the young rockers are rippin' the garage up with new material and a new-found energy they can't wait to stretch out beyond the walls.
Their classic style still sinks in and hangs on, striking a chord with old rockers and gaining the attention of younger peers, looking for something they can hang on to.
