Originally Stephen Kowalski's solo project, Mainland Watch quickly expanded when Giacomo Iaboni, Brendan Coady and Patrick Cane joined to cover an Arcade Fire song for Relay 4 Life. Although that fell through, the band added their lead guitarist Shawn Ewing in late 2008 and began writing original material. After a couple of gigs in the Newmarket area, the band has taken time to work on new material and record songs that they have already completed.
