Johnny Galactic is a three piece acoustic rock band from lower Vancouver Island. Their music style is distinct yet dynamic; a coalescence of the timeless story telling of folk, the sunny strumming of ukuleles and acoustic guitars, the beats of power-pop, and the raw energy of rock. The band is made up of Jonathan Reid: singer/songwriter, Graham MacKenzie: percussion, didge and guitar, and Aran Purich: bass and rock kicks. They draw their inspiration from such bands as the Tragically Hip, Tom Petty, the Skydiggers ; as they write songs to the beat of the west coast rain on their roofs and to the lull of the waves rolling up the sand to their feet. JG are currently in the studio working on their second album (due for mid June release). From campfire jams , to nightclubs, festivals and theaters , the live show this energetic trio brings to the stage challenges the crowd to sit still, but from the moment they pick up their instruments, it’s obvious that no one is having more fun than the boys themselves.
"This acoustic trio brings some of the sensibility back to the pop rock, best
typified by the Bare Naked Ladies. Well written songs and some catchy hooks."
