....Grindd started as just two kids with a desire to play music, back in '04: Nick Stevens and Rodrigo Cubric. They both got some guitars, and called their "band" Grind-22. They wrote their first song, Jonny in the Air, just a few weeks after starting the band. They soon invited their first drummer into the band, Jonny. Bryn, their first bassist, was also invited in the band. But, with troubles with both, they both left in under a year. In that time, 4 songs were written, and the band dropped the "-22" and replaced it with another "d", changing the name to Grindd. Towards the end of 2005, Nick invited Geddy Therrien into the band, in the middle of grade 9 tech class. Grindd soon played some shows at their high school, T.A. Blakelock, with a female drummer named Paige. Problems with her occured, which sent Grindd looking for another drummer, yet again. By early 2007, Grindd had over 20 songs written, and another 3 drummers who eventually got kicked out. Grindd got their first big gig playing at the Oakville Waterfront Festival towards the end of June. Grindd called onto an old friend of Nick's to fill in on drums for the one show: Jamie Small. Little did anyone know, Jamie would eventually become Grindd's drummer. After making front page news in the Oakville Beaver, Jamie was permanently brought into the band. Grindd was born: Nick Stevens and Rodrigo Cubric, both on lead/back-up vocals and lead/rhythm guitar, Geddy Therrien on bass, and Jamie Small on drums.
....Grindd's main sound is based on a pop-punk genre with some sublte elements of ska, minus the horns. With catchy, happy songs and upbeat temos, Grindd really gets the people moving! They do know how to throw a slow song in, but their main focus is writing happy music, making people excited, and letting everyone have a great time listening to, and watching their energetic live show.
