Grace Under Pressure is a love affair between the raw energy of 80s rock and the clean sound of modern technology. They released their first EP 'Against the Lights' on October 8, 2011; recorded and produced by Tim Neuhaus of Ear Art Studios. They are currently recording their second EP, to be released Fall 2013.
Grace Under Pressure’s style has been compared to the likes of a harder Heart, Rush, and Evanescence, though their influences come from a wider range including bands such as Breaking Benjamin, Dream Theatre, Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold, and Florence and the Machine. From songs with metal roots to pop-rock anthems, Grace Under Pressure’s sound lives up to their iconic name.
The band got their start in 2008 when Melody Dante lured Kevin Mark out of his cave to play the drums in her garage. The two of them enjoyed jamming together for a while before they found Jesse Slingsby, the lead guitarist, while searching for a bassist. Even though they had been looking to be a trio, the chemistry with Slingsby was undeniable. The most recent addition to the band was Melody’s longtime friend Kyle Evans on bass.
Grace under pressure is a compelling phrase. Since Hemmingway, it has been in popular usage, and to the band it means exactly what the man himself said. Guts. Learning to stand up under the weight of the world.
"It takes a lot of guts," says Melody Dante, lead vocalist and guitarist. "A lot of grace when you're under so much pressure from yourself, from everyone who wants to see you succeed or fall, and from the industry. The name is very fitting; it's not only the motto of my life but the biggest love of my life too: music."
