Wow, so I guess I’m a little late. Diego gave you the heads up on who played and their basic sound, but I’ll still offer my quick ops.

By the time I reached the reverb, All Hands Tied was part-way through their set.  The crowd was still really sparse at that point, and I guess the lead vocalist wasn’t feeling it, but he kept going and ended the set strong. People started pouring in a little more steady from that point on, with the show going on a brief tech hiatus.  But that was still cool, because that’s when the venue started to pack up.

I’ll admit, from the show, I liked a Masochistic Parody.  The guys had fun on stage and their music was definitely fun.  It may not be the type of music I always listen too, but watching them perform brightened my day. Though I’m not sure how much I can relate to wanting to kill the monkey on my back…

At the last Supernova show I went to, I had seen Lights Will Ignite Us.  I’ll still admit, one of my fav things is seeing all the energy the vocalist puts into his performances, he seems like he’s literally convulsing on stage.  The Common Colour’s sound reminded me a little of A Masochistic Parody, just in the fact that both bands had an almost pop sound.

Our winners from the night, Golden Orchard, definitely brought in a crowd.  Not only was their sound cool, but they even managed to get the crowd moving a bit. Sound aside, these guys were definitely cool, just from what we saw when they were hanging around before their set. And, they were totally amongst our fav camera whores from the night.

I’ll admit, what I heard of the last two bands of the night didn’t stick out to me, and there isn’t a myspace link for them on the supernova site, so I’m hoping I see them play another show just so I can figure whether I’m into their sound or not.

Of the show, I’d have to say that the two bands that stuck out the most for me were A Masochistic Parody and, our winners of the night, Golden Orchard.  What really stuck out was stage presence, and the fact that I could get into the music.  Both bands seemed as if they were having fun, which made us feel like we were having fun.  And that’s all a live show should be about…well, not excluding the music, of course.

Alright, that’s all from me now. I’ll post the pics from the night asap.
 Out!

Hey guys! Congratulations to the winner Golden Orchard. I arrived just in time to see The Fall of Icarus, met up with Yazmin and started getting to know the crowd. There were lots of people coming in for one band and leaving after the set, so I always had new people to talk to. A Masochistic Parody came on next and I was impressed right away. Great vocals and tight instrumentals. Killer guitar riffs!Lights Will Ignite Us came on next and ripped up the stage with some hardcore/screamo sounds. Lots of energy and great chemistry on stage. Another unique band on a very random night filled with very different styles/genres.The Common Color was next. They kept the rockin energy going, rippin it up on stage.Golden Orchard followed and brought lots of fans with them. I was very into their sound, being a bassist and really diggin the RHCP style. They deserved the win in my opinion, and I hope to see them again soon. After the winners, came The Honky Tonk Heartbreakers. That was a big change in the rock we had going on previously. I enjoyed the country feel and variety in their different songs, switching singers and going from acoustic to electric. Clockmaker finished off the night, unfortunately I only caught one song, then i was tearing down the posters and taking some more pictures, not paying enough attention to give them a good review. Sorry guys, hopefully there will be a next time!Overall, great night, great bands. what more can you ask for? Diego
