A long time Blues afficianado, Dallas Lockrey favours the sound of a bottleneck guitar to all the glitz and glamour of effects and pedals. From performing in the Blues/Rock group "Frayed" before becoming a solo artist, Dallas has developed a distinct guitar playing style as evidenced through his many opened-tuned originals. An uncanny knack for memorable riffs as well as catchy melodies is evidant in his first solo album "Mountain Hands" as well as his 2nd solo CD "Your Slow Road Is Rollin'", which features material from such musical genres as Delta Blues, Folk, and Rock. All fused into a unique sound. Dallas uses acoustic jangles, thick electric riffs, harmonica and his trusty dobro (happily named "Grenadine") to Compose what he refers to as "Mountain Rock". An easily recogniseable Character, Dallas is rarely seen without his guitar, harmonicas or his trademark snake skin cowboy boots. These of course always help when theres a stomp needed to move a song along. Dallas is no stranger to playing live whether it be solo or with a band. Gaining experience through many live performances has enabled Dallas to not only win a crowd over with songs but with crowd interaction as well. Stage Pressence plays a crucial role with Dallas as he believes in giving the crowd not only a listening experience but a veiwing one as well. This was certainly evident in the "2008 Paragon Singer Songwriter competition" in which Dallas beat 12 other competitors to take home the top prize. Other live highlights include: Jeff Heleys Battle of the bands (winner), Mariposa Folk Festival, Hard Rock Cafe and Molson Ampitheatre (opening slot for Tom Petty) With one goal in mind, Dallas drives forward to achieve his target. That being, to become a professional recording artist. Music is his passion and will only head in one direction, forward.
