Formed in the summer of 2007, Kamloops rock band Zen Rising immediately began writing music and within a month had written 7 songs and performed them in their first gig together. From that point into the early summer months of 2008, Zen Rising continued to write music and perform shows, while looking for a producer to work with on their first album. They met Tim Neuhaus of Ear Art Studios and felt a creative connection immediately. Then in July 2008, Zen Rising entered Ear Art Studios to record their first album?.?This Life?. ?This Life? features material written from 2007 ? 2008, as well as tracks written during the recording process. The influences for Zen Rising?s music stems from the loss of guitarist Erik Scholefield?s mother who passed away in 2007. As well as Zen Rising?s outlook of the world in which we live today.
