Warjunk, from Vancouver BC, is a unique 5 piece ensemble that creates punchy, bouncy, emotional, first-time “sticky” songs which embraces everything from 70’s punk and progressive rock to 2000’s pop and metal; in their own way of course. Never one to follow trends, you will find Warjunk’s music to be inspirational in lyric, catchy in melodies, hard-hitting with hooks and captivating with vocals and harmonies, all presented in style and excitement. Warjunk doesn’t sound quite like anything else!
Vocalist Graham Allan, guitarists Glen MacLeod and Deon Scott, and new rhythm section consisting of drummer Troy Taillon and bassist Chris Richards have been re-energized for 2010 and recently completed recording two of their many new songs for release in May. Warjunk plans on hitting the scenes hard in local, national and international markets!
Their last album, 2005’s Without Wax followed up on the framework laid down by “Radiate” (2002) and the self titled “Warjunk” (1999). “Without Wax was made as organically as possible. We basically recorded the songs as we wrote them. There was not a lot of tinkering and second guessing. We wanted to avoid studio tan,” says guitarist Glen MacLeod.
Warjunk’s live shows can include a choreography of visual images including biopic film-making and avant-garde art clips that Graham Allan produces as a visual note to the songs. “Each album has a film scripted to it while it is being produced so the end result is an aural and visual production for the live show”.
Now with fresh material, Warjunk is ready to take it to the streets again!
Look for them on stage in Vancouver and other national cities throughout 2010.
