The Best Revenge are a rising four-piece rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia. Their music is influenced by a mix of 00’s garage rock (The Hives, The Libertines), hard rock (Queens of the Stone Age) and classic 70’s punk (The Clash, The Sex Pistols).With a keen ear for hooks, a meticulous approach to crafting the perfect arrangements and a desire to expand their songwriting boundaries, the sound of The Best Revenge is constantly evolving. This is readily apparent on their debut album Young Nihilists’ Gun Club which runs the gamut from speedy shout-out-loud punk tunes (“Harlot”, “Get on the Floor”) to gutter-disco floor-fillers (“She Talks to Ghosts”) to apocalyptic anthems (“The City’s on Fire”, “Johnny Says”).
Pearce Donnelly (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Evan Joel (bass guitar, backing vocals) formed an early incarnation of The Best Revenge in 2006, but the final lineup didn’t come together until early 2011 when Maxim Patrich (drums) and Matt Vass (lead guitar) became full-time members. They self-released Young Nihilists’ Gun Club to a packed house at the Railway Club in October 2011.
The Best Revenge have been played on Todd Hancock’s Indie Night in Canada on 99.3 The Fox, were recently selected as a documentary subject for the Evergreen Cultural Centre’s inaugural “Emerging Talent” Film Festival and have also received a FACTOR grant to help fund the recording of their next single. In 2012, the band plan to tour Western Canada and record their next album.
