The Burn

It all started back in February 2009 when Ryan suggested to his brother Kyle the idea of starting new band with their good friend Eric. When they asked him about the idea, he was immediatly excited, and soon enough they were starting their first rehearsals. It started first with some guitar riffs and ideas that Eric had been working on, but soon enough turned in to their first songs as a band. In fact the first song they ever wrote was "Bourbon", which appears on their self titled four song EP. After beggining to write a few songs that they were happy with, they decided to take some time and finish writing as many more new songs as they could so they could take their favorites that they felt reached their higher potential. They continued writing for several months until they played their first show in a battle of the bands competition in September 2009. They played a great show and even ended up winning second place which got them some free mechandise! They wrote a couple more songs and played in the battle of bands city finals show a couple months later.

By the time the band had reached the one year mark, they decided that it was time to go into the studio and record their debut EP. They booked five days at Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver and recorded over a couple weekends. In the end it turned out great, and the band was happy to start getting their music out on the local scene.

Shortly after the studio, they were rehearsing for an upcoming show when Kyle announced that it would be his last show with the band due to his increased work loads in university. It was a major disapointment for the band, however soon after breaking the news, he informed them that a guitarist who was a good friend of his had heard the EP and loved it. He asked if he could try out as the bass player, and that he would love to meet with them. It only took one meeting to realize he was the perfect fit for the band. Since then, they have written a ton of new material and have played a number of great, energetic live shows at venues such as The Roxy, The Media Club, The Bourbon and many others. For now they continue to play as many shows as they can and try to get their music out to as many people as possible.
