This talented quartet is forging ahead, relying on their music to speak for itself.
And it is.
Great songwriting, a tight bunch of talented guys and a remarkable sound has already garnered accolades for God is 18.
Dan and Dean formed the alternative rock band in 2009, because of a shared passion to create great music. Dan spent the better part of 2009 writing and recording over 35 demos, which he then had the opportunity to present to producer Warne Livesey.
“From the moment I first heard Dan Stuart's songs I was excited to work with God Is 18. The writing has that unique blend of creative individuality, lyrical depth and instant memorability that I always look for in rock music.”
Warne agreed to produce a 4 song EP so Dan called in Steve Coombe to play lead guitar.
Next Warne introduced them to ex Matthew Good drummer Ian Browne. Ian Browne believes the strength of Dan’s voice, coupled with his compelling storytelling, has commercial success and that’s why he decided to join the band. They hit it off immediately. It was like we had been playing together for years. Between the four of us there are hundreds of live shows under our belt so jamming was easy.
Dan traffics in songs, which speak of sadness, joy, love and loss … those strong, raw emotions that bubble inside all of us. He tells fearless stories of heartbreak and redemption, in lyrics that are sometimes dark, moody and a little melancholy, but ones that get to heart of life.
God is 18 rises from a wealth of musical experience. Although the quartet is a new group, its sound is a confident and original mix of melodic, strings-infused rock..
God is 18 is pushing pop/rock music to its borders and each track delivers hook after hook. With refreshing new music from Vancouver — compositions that have the potential of changing Canada’s indie rock scene — expect great things from God is 18.
God is 18 is a feisty, hard-rocking foursome that is here to stay.
