As sharp and refreshing as the landscape they’ve claimed, Cold Coast is an emerging band crashing into the Toronto music scene.
Cold Coast formed in August of 2009 when Riley Szulc, armed with lots of fresh lyrics, approached several friends looking to form a band. Soon, singer-songwriter Szulc, brothers Bryn (drums) and Keegan Lutek (guitar, brass, vocals) plus basist Carter Grieve formed Cold Coast, indie band extraordinaire.
In 2009 the band recorded a four-song demo, “Hello World.” Their first full album, Fires, dropped on June 24th, 2011. It was produced and engineered by Mitchell Pady and Peter “Plutek” Lutek.
Cold Coast’s sound is layered rock featuring Szulc’s thoughtful lyrics and soft backing brass. You’d never guess this was a high school band, though Cold Coast makes use of their youthful audience, and as their listeners age, the band evolves into something more and more awesome.
