Writing since the age of 9, Carissa Thorpe has only recently started sharing her gift of words with the world through public performance. Recognizing that not pursuing her passion not only robs her of the joys singing and writing hold for her, but also withholds the joy and inspiration that others might find through her words and melodies (as well as watching someone live passionately), Carissa is now focusing her intent on ‘making it happen’ musically.
Carissa’s writing isn’t limited just to lyrics (though she does pen partial songs almost daily), but also extends to journalism. Currently in her first year of journalism at Langara College in Vancouver, BC, Carissa has plans to become a music journalist, as well as cover social and animal justice issues – both of which she has been trying to write more songs about lately – and intends to write biographies and non-fiction works in her spare time outside of singing, songwriting and journalism.
Future plans include learning to play guitar and write music to accompany her lyrics and melodies, as well as singing lessons and songwriting classes.
