Originally a creative collaboration between songwriter Mark Pocock and guitarist Andrew Laing, BT rounded out to a four piece band with the addition of Sam Buchanan on bass and Amanda Hamilton on drums. From within the confines of a rustic old barn serving as practice space, the musical diversity brought to the table by each band member creates a sound that is refreshing and easy to identify with. It is sometimes difficult to confine a band to one specific genre, but it’s influences can be many. Displaying a new sound that stems from familiar roots, the band respects the influences of bands such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Our Lady Peace, The Maine, The Fray and Third Eye Blind, just to name a few.
In early 2009, Andrew and Mark sought out the expertise of producer John Franco (Gob, By a Thread) to record their debut self-titled EP at Vogville studios. Shortly after the EP’s release, Between Takes was granted airplay of their single “See You Again” on Virgin Radio's “Best of B.C.”. Between Takes has showcased their talent time and again qualifying as a Top 20 finalist for the 99.3 CFOX Vancouver Seeds competition in both 2010 and 2011, as well as a CFOX “Band of the Month”. Between Takes has developed a loyal following and can regularly be seen playing shows around Vancouver and the lower mainland. Last summer they played the Canadian Wakeboard championships in Kamloops BC and the band was so well received they were asked to headline the following year. Being asked to return to Kamloops lends itself perfectly for a Canadian tour. This is the opportunity the band has been waiting for. Between Takes is a hard working up and coming band that is loyal to the creation of authentic, honest and intelligent music. Offering a sound that is refreshing and catchy, Between Take’s only goal is to create music that reflects each member of the band and offer it up to the world. They will continue to express their passion towards creating great songs by extending meaningful lyrics and chorus hooks towards an audience that appreciates modern music performed the classical way.
